One of the community's favorite features of Overwatch is its diverse cast of playable heroes. Overwatch's stable of heroes has a hero for every player whether their preferences are based on appearances or gameplay style.

This has lead to many Overwatch players finding their favorite characters and becoming attached to them, especially with how every character has a fully realized backstory for players to get invested in. This has also led to Overwatch boasting an impressive cosplay community that is filled with fans making extremely detailed cosplays of their favorite heroes and their various cosmetics and skins.

One of the most recent of these cosplays comes from Reddit user domino_jack01. In a post made to the game's subreddit, they revealed their new cosplay for a gender-bent Soldier: 76. Soldier: 76 has been in the game since it first launched, and is a very popular starting character in Overwatch because of his conventional FPS kit that makes him more approachable for learning the ropes. Since he is a grizzled veteran turned vigilante soldier, the cosplay maintains his gray hair, but has it much longer, and is complete with a replica of his rifle, iconic leather jacket, and futuristic face mask.

There are a lot of small details about the character that the cosplay nails perfectly, and the comments on the Reddit post seem to indicate that the community is very impressed with it. Some users have pointed out that the long hair almost makes the cosplay seem like it is a cosplay of Overwatch's Anna cosplaying as Soldier: 76, which is a great twist on it as well. Other comments are discussing how Overwatch 2's impending redesign of all the game's characters should lead to some great new cosplays of the characters that fans are already familiar with, which will be great for the game's sizable cosplay community.

While many fans are understandably concerned about the changes coming with Overwatch 2, it does seem that Overwatch is still in a great place with its fans. The connections that the game's players have made with its characters are undeniable, and many of the game's fans have found truly incredible ways to express those connections. With the launch of Overwatch 2 also bringing new characters with it, hopefully, more players will be able to find a hero that they can really connect with. Hopefully, fans will get some more news on some of the new characters coming with the game's sequel, or even a release window, sometime soon.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One, with Overwatch 2 currently in development.
