Since Overwatch’s launch back in 2016, the massively successful video game has created hundreds of skins for the various characters. Although Activision Blizzard is in the midst of developing Overwatch 2, the support for Overwatch continues, with the recent Halloween Terror event having just recently concluded. Apart from the return of the popular Junkenstein game mode, Overwatch also saw the addition of multiple Halloween-themed skins.

Each event for Overwatch typically has a few new skins for the characters in the game, and plenty of opportunities to unlock these skins without having to actually pay any money. As a result, rarely will players ever enter a lobby where multiple characters don’t have cosmetics. With how chaotic games can be though, sometimes players want more opportunities to show off some of the rarer cosmetics they have acquired.

An Overwatch fan on Reddit by the name of TimTubeYT1 has posted a concept image of post-match lobby cards that also feature skins. After completing a match in Overwatch, players have the opportunity to vote on 1 out of 4 players that performed well in said match. This voting is essentially a pat on the back. Currently, these post-match lobby cards feature the player’s BattleTag name, a description of what they did during the match, and an image of their character. With the concept art TimTubeYT1 shared, these character images would be larger and also feature the skin the user currently has equipped.

Additionally, whichever post-match lobby card acquired the most votes would glow and slightly stick out above the rest. Compared to the post-match lobby cards that are currently in Overwatch, the concept art shown adds a lot more style and emphasis on the player’s characters.

The concept art change probably wouldn’t be a major change that Activision Blizzard would have to take time to implement and although it’s not a game-changer by any means, it’s certainly a nice addition. Because Overwatch is primarily in first-person, the user doesn’t always see their skin the entire time. There are of course replays where players can see their skins, but in these situations, it’s not something that they’re actively looking at, instead of looking at the situation that is currently occurring in the match.

As such, having a player’s Overwatch skin appear in the post-match lobby screen would be a nice touch. With the recent delay of Overwatch 2, it’s always possible something like this might be implemented in the sequel. Unfortunately, that sequel won’t be arriving until at least 2023, but with that extra time, the developers will have the opportunity to potentially exceed Overwatch.

Overwatch is available right now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
