Every December, Blizzard hosts the special Overwatch Winter Wonderland event to celebrate the holidays. And like with any special Overwatch event, Winter Wonderland brings with it some brand new cosmetic items for players to unlock. While fans are still waiting for a full reveal of all the new Winter Wonderland skins, Blizzard has given them a sneak peek by showing off the new Sigma Winter Wonderland skin.

Since the new tank hero Sigma joined the Overwatch roster just this past year, Winter Wonderland 2019 marks the first opportunity for him get a holiday-themed skin for the hero-shooter. The Sigma Winter Wonderland skin is Rime Sigma, and it will be available for players to unlock beginning Tuesday, December 10 and until the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2019 event ends on Thursday, January 2.

With the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2019 event starting so soon, it's unclear if Blizzard will be previewing other new skins for the event before it officially launches. The more likely scenario is that Overwatch fans will just have to wait for Winter Wonderland 2019 to kick off on December 10 to get the chance to look at the rest of the new skins.

While Overwatch fans wait to see the rest of the new Winter Wonderland 2019 skins, they can come up with their own concepts. That's exactly what one fan did when they created their own Wrecking Ball Christmas skin that transforms Hammond's ball into a snow globe. This skin concept makes Hammond's ball see-through, which would make it one of the more complex skins in Overwatch, though it will be interesting to see if Blizzard comes up with anything quite as that creative.

When the Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2019 event wraps up, the next event players have to look forward to in the game will be the annual Chinese New Year event. 2020 is the Year of the Rat, so it seems likely that fans can look forward to some new cosmetics for Junkrat at the very least.

With Overwatch 2 on the horizon, one has to wonder if Blizzard will start running new seasonal events in the game. Since all of the cosmetics in Overwatch carry over to Overwatch 2, it seems unlikely that Blizzard will start doing different events, but we won't know for sure until the game launches.

Overwatch is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
