Overwatch is known for its game-changing plays. With players able to pick from a 32 character roster, no game feels exactly the same. One character that has an impressive set of abilities is the tank Roadhog. Recently, one player managed to use Roadhog's Chain Hook ability to pull off a stunning play.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as guster09 shared a clip from a recent Overwatch match taking place on the Control map Ilios. After winning the first round, the video showed the action on the Lighthouse section of the map. This area, set high above an ocean, forced players to capture and control a room surrounded by drop-offs. Due to this environmental hazard, the enemy team had a Wrecking Ball to try and knock players off the map. However, guster09 had other ideas.
The clip followed Roadhog as he approached the objective zone. After the enemy Wrecking Ball deployed its Minefield Ultimate, guster09 stayed near the perimeter of the objective, careful to avoid bumping into the explosive mines. Unfortunately, this placed Roadhog right next to the edge of a cliff. Seeing how close Roadhog was to his potential doom, Wrecking Ball, along with the enemy D.Va, suddenly charged at guster09.
Hitting their target with impressive force, Wrecking Ball and D.Va sent the tank flying off the edge. However, what happened next caught Roadhog's opponents off guard. Just as it appeared that Roadhog was about to be eliminated, guster09 used their Chain Hook to hook the Hamster. Using the enemy Wrecking Ball’s momentum, guster09 sent the Hamster player plummeting to a watery grave below. In a strange turn of events, the extreme force of the collision caused guster09 to safely land on another ledge far from the point and safe from harm.
This unusual Roadhog hook has become extremely popular with the Overwatch community on Reddit. With over 9,000 upvotes in only a day, many were amazed by the player’s survival skills. According to guster09, they believed that they lived because both Wrecking Ball and D.Va hit them at the same time. One user summed the video up in one word: “satisfying.” Others were glad to see guster09 outplay Wrecking Ball, as they found the character to be frustrating to play against.
This video highlight comes only a couple of weeks after fans received a new look at gameplay in Overwatch 2. Shown through the perspective of pro players in the Overwatch League, a better look at the maps and characters was revealed. It will be interesting to see what types of amazing plays gamers like guster09 make in the sequel whenever the game releases.
