Throughout the nearly six years since Blizzard's character-based arena shooter Overwatch took the world by storm, the game's diverse cast of characters have become iconic staples of the modern gaming industry. Characters like Tracer and Mercy have become faces of the franchise, with both being loved by fans and the subjects of plenty of memes amongst the community. Others, like Brigitte, monumentally affected the game's meta. Now, a recent fan concept looks to portray one of the game's characters after all the fighting is over.

Much like many of today's most popular games. Overwatch features a variety of cosmetic skins for players to deck their favorite characters out in different styles. The game's Year of the Tiger event recently saw Overwatch add a host of Lunar New Year-related skins to some of the game's most popular characters, like Tracer, Mercy, and Wrecking Ball, among others. The game's passionate fanbase have also put forth many of their own creative and unique ideas for Overwatch skins, with a recent concept re-imagining the hypersphere-wielding Sigma after his retirement from the battlefield.

The Sigma concept drawn up by Reddit user orloffel_ paints a much different picture of Sigma than many players are used to seeing in their matches. The skin concept trades in Sigma's usual armor for a button-down shirt and a pair of overalls, complete with a pair of loafers. The skin idea also gives Sigma a pair of glasses and sporting a grizzled white beard while trading in his usual hi-tech hyperspheres for a pair looking considerably more archaic. The user later suggested the spheres and shoulder garments are a result of an acquired passion for woodworking.

Many fans in the post's comment section were quick to point out the skin concept's addition of shoes, whereas many of Sigma's skins feature the character with bare feet. Some fans suggested that slippers may be a better look for the retired astrophysicist, with some even suggesting socks with sandals could better suit Sigma's retired outfit. The comments saw plenty of other suggestions for ways Sigma could match the retired theme, from changed voice lines to different ideas for the skin's name.

While Overwatch continues to see new skins added and new events enticing players to play the nearly six-year-old game, many fans have already turned their attention to the upcoming sequel, Overwatch 2. The highly-anticipated sequel has been a hot topic for fans following Microsoft's recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, with several Overwatch 2 developers levying accusations against Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick for the game's delays. While Overwatch 2's release seems to still be well off into the future, Overwatch's passionate fanbase will continue to support the game until the sequel eventually arrives.
