Overwatch's Public Test Region is used to test a number of changes that Blizzard is considering for the popular hero shooter, but one potential change has accidentally been added to the PTR too early. Apparently the Horizon Lunar Colony map, which has been criticized by the Overwatch community since its release, is getting a rework.

According to principal level designer David Adams, fans weren't supposed to see changes that Blizzard is making to the Horizon Lunar Colony map in Overwatch just yet. Adams said that the team is still working on changes and testing the map, so it's possible the rework could change quite a bit by the time it's implemented in the main game. As for when the Horizon Lunar Colony map rework will be in the game, that's anyone's guess, though we know it won't be part of the next patch.

The Horizon Lunar Colony map in Overwatch is notorious for having two points that are unusually hard to defend. To address this issue, the rework makes some structural changes to the map to give the defending team a better chance at holding the point. For example, at the second control point, the catwalk has been removed, meaning the attacking team has less options available to them.

Besides changes to the actual structure of the map itself, the Horizon Lunar Colony rework also adds some extra vegetation to give it more personality. This change and the other changes seem to have been met with enthusiasm from the Overwatch community so far, but it will be interesting to see how Blizzard may tweak it in the future as well.

The latest PTR update for Overwatch includes more than just the Horizon Lunar Colony rework, though. It also features a Hanzo ability rework that some fans have been wanting for quite awhile. The Hanzo ability rework is designed to demand more accuracy on the part of the Hanzo player by replacing the Scatter Arrow with Storm Arrows. Since it's still being tested in the PTR, it's possible that there may be even more changes to Hanzo before the rework makes its way to the main game, however.

Overall, changes to Horizon Lunar Colony and Hanzo's abilities seem like two things that will please Overwatch fans. It's hard to say when some of these changes will make their way to the main game, but expect Blizzard to share more information in the coming weeks.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
