Modding video games can lead to some wonderful things, such as being able to use Star Wars' lightsabers in Half-Life: Alyx. However, modding can also result in absolutely terrifying things like Therister's spider legs Widowmaker mod in Blizzard Entertainment's team-based shooter Overwatch.

To be fair, the mod is as interesting as it is disconcerting. Therister uploaded a video showcasing it to YouTube today, and the four large legs it attaches to Overwatch's Damage archetype sniper crawl with their own unique animations and allow her to climb up walls.

The modder also cuts down on some of the discomfort by playing the Spider-Man theme song in the background of their video. It's certainly a unique idea to see implemented into the game, especially as Overwatch's 2020 Anniversary Event mostly just adds in basic skins to collect for different heroes.

Therister's mod is available through the Overwatch Workshop, which is also where players have been able to access other bizarre features like merging their entire team into a single character. Hopefully nobody combines the two and makes wall-climbing monstrosities anytime soon.

Overwatch is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
