Not too long ago, Blizzard Entertainment decided to prepare Overwatch fans for the team-based shooter's Lunar New Year event for 2018 by providing some details about the limited-time event in regards to its new map to explore, and the newly improved capture-the-flag game variant. Now, with the event live, the publisher and developer has decided to officially unveil all six of the new skins available in the title by way of a new trailer.

As seen below in Overwatch's trailer for its Year of the Dog celebration, fans of the team-based shooter can catch some glimpses at the new legendary skins for Genji, Mercy, Zarya, Pharah, McCree, and Widowmaker. Like last year's event, the fresh skins aren't the only thing available in the Lunar New Year event for 2018, as there are plenty of other new cosmetics based on this year’s theme. In fact, Blizzard has promised there will be more than 50 new pieces of loot to unlock.

While Overwatch's six new skins in the Year of the Dog event are quite beautiful, some fans may lament the fact that they lack some of last year's Lunar New Year cosmetics. Thankfully, for those who may have missed out on such items in 2017, the previous event's cosmetics are also available for purchase at a discounted rate.

For those interested in taking part, Overwatch’s Lunar New Year for 2018 is live now, and will run for four weeks straight. During the Year of the Dog, Blizzard is set to hold a competitive ranked version of capture-the-flag, which will be played on the new map of Ayutthaya, which is set in Thailand. According to game director Jeff Kaplan, Ayutthaya is going to remain in the title's map rotation after 2018's Lunar New Year ends.

There's no doubt that plenty of Overwatch fans will flock to the team-based shooter thanks to the limited run of its annual Lunar New Year event, but one new feature in particular might even be more popular than the event itself. As it so happens, Blizzard recently implemented a change allowing players to select a character's skin at the start of a match, causing many to rejoice.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
