A couple of days ago, Blizzard announced that Overwatch's annual Lunar New Year event would return on January 24, this time celebrating the Year of the Pig. Each day until the Lunar New Year event starts, Overwatch fans can look forward to new skin reveals, with the first two being Reaper and Hanzo.

On its various social media pages, Overwatch has revealed the Lunar New Year skins for Reaper and Hanzo, with the Reaper skin proving to be especially popular so far. Called the Lu Bu Reaper skin, this new skin has quickly inspired a variety of fan art and seems to have been very well-received by the community.

Hanzo's Lunar New Year 2019 skin is also impressive, even if it doesn't seem to be quite as popular as Reaper's offering. The Huang Zhong Hanzo skin sees the talented archer take on an older look, complete with a white beard, which is a change of pace from his usual style for sure.

In the coming days, Overwatch fans can expect more epic-tier skins to be revealed. It seems likely that some of the newer characters will get some epic-tier skins, like Ashe, Brigitte, and Wrecking Ball, as they weren't around for last year's Lunar New Year Event. Of course, that's just speculation at this time, but it would make sense, especially since they lack cosmetics compared to characters that have been on the roster since launch.

Another character that may get special attention during the Year of the Pig event is Roadhog, since he is quite literally named after a pig and even resembles one. Roadhog even has a pig's face tattooed on his stomach, so it would be a shame if Blizzard neglected him during the event.

Besides new skins, the Lunar New Year event will likely bring with it some other content for fans to look forward to, like a renewed focus on Capture the Flag or a brand new game mode entirely. We don't know everything that the event has in store, but we'll find out when it goes live on January 24.

Anyone who wants a chance to unlock the Lunar New Year 2019 Reaper and Hanzo skins will want to make sure to participate in the event while it's available from January 24 until February 18.

Overwatch is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
