During the Overwatch League Grand Finals event held in Anaheim, California, creative Overwatch 2 fans drew signs that call out the game's issues and sought out the cameras in a low-stakes form of protest. Since the beginning of the Overwatch League in 2017, fans have had the ability to make signs to support their teams or make funny quips about the game they've gathered to see.

With the 2022 Overwatch League Grand Finals being the first live LAN event since 2019, and the first since Overwatch 2's release, fans were all too eager to get back to making signs. To the delight of fans in attendance and potentially many more worldwide, some signs took the opportunity to call out issues with Overwatch 2.

Fans at the Anaheim Convention Center took their opportunity at camera time to air the grievance that some in the viewing audience may also have with the game. Some fan signs made funny references to Mei currently being disabled in Overwatch 2 due to a bug with her Ice Wall. Mei is the third hero since the game's early access launch to be disabled after Torbjorn and Bastion were out of service until the game's next balance patch. Mei is also expected to be patched and returned to the live game after the November 15 balance patch update.

There were two signs that addressed the current monetization practice of the game's cosmetics that were received with raucous applause in the arena. Signs to "Bring Back Loot Boxes" and "Nerf Shop Prices" all out the game's seemingly exorbitant pricing under the free-to-play model. Overwatch 2's new Battle Pass system has been mostly received negatively as prices of both individual items and hero skin bundles are seen as overpriced and unattainable to players not willing to spend the sticker price of cosmetics.

Blizzard has a policy that will monitor signs before they enter the arena, but these signs obviously passed muster. Criticism is fine for the publisher, as long as it does not stray into offensive abuse of fans of other teams, Overwatch League players, other Overwatch 2 players, or staff. In front of an almost packed Anaheim Convention Center and over 300,000 concurrent viewers on YouTube, fans were not afraid to appreciate high-level gameplay and also criticize the game's shortcomings.

Fans in Anaheim had their fill of fun with their signs and an amazing experience in the arena. The voice actors of Sojourn and Junker Queen were in attendance, the new Omnic Tank hero Ramattra was revealed, and a back-and-forth affair between the Dallas Fuel and the San Francisco Shock that ended in a 4-3 win for the Fuel kept the crowd engaged all night. Love for the game continues to remain high, but Overwatch 2 fans will take any opportunity they can to call out issues.

Overwatch 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
