Just recently, it was revealed that some major hero changes are set for implementation in the Overwatch PTR, including gameplay adjustments to the skills and abilities of characters such as Mei, Sombra, and Doomfist. Now, it looks as if a lore update could be on the way as well, as the team-based shooter's publisher and developer, Blizzard Entertainment, recently posted a job listing looking for a writer to contribute to the game's universe.

According to the writer job listing at Blizzard Entertainment, the company is looking for a "talented and experienced creative writer to join the Overwatch team," with the responsibilities for the role requiring one to help develop the game's lore while "while maintaining the vision" of the title. To be specific, potential hires will need to be prepared to "quickly write and iterate on compelling dialogue for characters, missions, and scenes" and "write descriptions of the world, factions, characters, and history."

Ever since Overwatch's inception, fans of the first-person shooter have been adamant about Blizzard incorporating more ways for them to engage with the game's lore, with such requests influencing the creation of events such as last April's Uprising. Fans were given a better understanding of a major chapter in Overwatch's history with the event, as it explored the in-game universe's Omnic Crisis, wherein players took on the roles of the team's original members to fight an onslaught of omnics in King's Row.

With events such as Uprising offering fans a richer comprehension of the underpinnings for Overwatch's mythology, it makes sense as to why Blizzard Entertainment's new job posting for a fresh writer also requires one to "do research gathering and documentation" for the game's world. And since the position has been listed toward the tail-end of February, it's quite possible that whoever is hired for the role is set to help contribute to a history-soaked event similar to Uprising that's just over the horizon.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
