Blizzard's team based hero shooter Overwatch has captured the interest of fans with its detailed maps and need for strategic tactics since its launch in 2016. Not only are players exploring classic maps to find hidden glitches or secrets to help them in their next fight, but some users have begun to look at the newer maps, such as Havana, which went live in May 2019.

Havana is an escort based map for Overwatch that seems very straightforward, but can turn into a hard fought battle very quickly. Because of the game's focus on working as a team to win matches, it is important for ranged damage characters and specific healers to reach the high ground so they can aid their team. In the midst of a match, it might become a struggle to find stairwells quickly enough so that team members can efficiently do their jobs. To solve this problem, many players began exploring new maps such as Havana, looking for new ways to access their favorite vantage points.

After the attacking team escorts the payload to the first checkpoint, the defending team must hold their ground inside Don Rumbotico Distillery, which is full of stairwells and fermenters. These map additions allow players to gain an advantage on the enemy team, as the high ground often allows for quick escapes and easy cover from enemy fire. It is also a good vantage point for snipers such as Widowmaker or healers like Ana, because both heroes can aid their team from a distance, which is what they do best. Because of the exposed high ground on this map, users endeavored to find new places to utilize around the map, and one specific path to the high ground has quickly become a fan favorite.

The strategy allows players to jump up directly alongside the distillery tanks as a way of avoiding staircases altogether and accessing the high ground more quickly. To do this, players hop onto the circular knob between the tanks, add another jump to get to a higher point of the machine, and then turn and jump directly onto the crosswalk. As if this wasn't enough, players can continue jumping up the fermentation tanks to reach the very top and provide a better angle for ranged heroes. Although it may seem exposed, the map provides enough natural cover with the pipes on top of the tanks for players to hide behind when necessary.

Because of the removal of Overwatch's map pools, it is more important and possible for users to find new locations and their access points because they are no longer limited by specific maps. No matter how long it has been since playing on Havana, it is always worth a refresher run-through to remind players of previous vantage point, and even offers the opportunity to find new ones themselves.

Overwatch is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
