The Overwatch Halloween Terror event returns to the game next week, but many of the spooky new skins have leaked ahead of the festivities. Last year, there were a total of twelve Halloween themed skins available to Overwatch players. This year, at least five new ones have been added. Thanks to a post on Reddit, a few of those skins have been revealed a tad early.
There’s a Zenyatta skin that makes him look like a robotic Cthulhu, a Mei skin that has her looking like a jiangshi, or a Chinese hopping vampire, and a Symmetra skin that gives her the appearance of a female Diablo. There’s also another Reaper skin that isn’t terribly different from his standard skin.
Many have been anticipating the return of Halloween Terror, and Blizzard officially announced the start date of the event earlier this week. Players can start cracking open Trick-or-Treat loot boxes next Tuesday, October 10. The announcement came with a short teaser video that previewed two new skins: the Reaper one described above and a new McCree skin that looks like some of the modern interpretations of Van Helsing. Aside from new skins, players should expect the return of Junkenstein’s Revenge. While the mode is quirky and fun, Blizzard will hopefully freshen it up a bit with new features.
Outside of the next big event, Overwatch fans are anxiously waiting BlizzCon 2017. This annual convention is where Blizzard lays out what’s next for its games. The hacker character Sombra was unveiled at last year’s event after months of grueling teases. This year, fans could get a glimpse at the game’s 26th hero, or simply get an idea of what’s in store for the year ahead, but we hope Blizzard will have at least one big announcement to throw some coal into the hype train’s engines. We will see what shakes out this November.
The new Junkertown escort map was recently added to Overwatch, which has players fighting their way through the dilapidated home of Junkrat and Roadhog in the Australian wasteland. It came packaged together with a couple of big characters changes. There is a D.Va tweak that nerfs her Defense Matrix, but adds a useful new ability, and a Mercy overhaul that completely reworks her Ultimate.
Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
