Blizzard has continued to update Overwatch with its yearly event with the 2020 Halloween event now being live for all players. This marks the return of all previous Halloween event cosmetics and the Junkenstein's Revenge arcade mode.

The 2020 Halloween event will be live in Overwatch from October 13th to November 3rd, giving players plenty of time to grab the cosmetics they want before waiting for 2021 to come around. It is currently active for players on all platforms.

Players wanting something a bit different for this year's Halloween event will be glad to discover Junkenstein's Revenge now having new challenge modes. Two of these challenge modes are already available with two more being added each week of the event.

With the start of this event, many characters have new legendary skins for the spooky holiday. These characters are:

  • D.Va - Shin-Ryeong
  • Genji - Karasu-Tengu
  • Hanzo - Dai-Tengu
  • Sigma - Flying Dutchman
  • Winston - Werewolf

Additionally, each week of the event has a mini-challenge event associated with it that will give players exclusive cosmetics upon completing them. Week One's subject is Sombra with her Fantasma epic skin. Players can also get an associated spray and player icon by completing the challenge event. Meanwhile, Week 2's character is Brigitte with her Stone epic skin. The event will finish out with Week Three and Echo's Ragdoll epic skin.

Other cosmetics are also available including brand new sprays, new highlight intros, a new Reinhardt emote, and plenty of new character voice lines. Of course, players also have the chance to get cosmetics from previous years' Halloween events in lootboxes as well as the ability to purchase them directly.

There are six planned challenge modes for Junkenstein's Revenge as previously stated with the first two only being currently active. The listed challenges are:

  •  Vengeful Ghost - A deadly ghost chases players.
  • Frenzied Stampede - Zomnics move faster
  • Volatile Zomnics - ???
  • Three They Were - ???
  • Mystery Swap - ???
  • Shocking Surprise - ???

These new modes will likely be far more difficult to complete compared to normal games of Junkenstein's Revenge. They however provide a good opportunity for players to gather parties of friends to take down Junkenstein and the zomnics with efficiency. Completing these challenges will award players with special sprays that can't be normally purchased with credits or awarded from Halloween lootboxes.

Those who don't want to go through too difficult challenges can still play the original Junkenstein's Revenge and Junkenstein's Revenge Endless from the arcade menu. There are still special sprays that can be achieved from these as well.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
