During a recent game of Overwatch, one Genji player managed to deflect Ana’s Biotic Grenade from an incredibly long distance away. With the launch of Overwatch 2 just around the corner, many gamers are still playing online matches in the original Overwatch before it goes offline. In addition, some of these gamers have been sharing some incredible highlights despite the game being over six years old.

Genji, a well-known DPS hero in Overwatch, is one of the characters that players have been using to pull off some of these impressive plays. While his Ultimate, known as Dragonblade, is effective, especially when combined with a Nano Boost, another move from his kit that should not be overlooked is Deflect. This ability allows Genji to deflect all sorts of projectiles back at an opposing player, and it can sometimes change the outcome of a skirmish. While Deflect requires players to have good timing, one player took this move to a new level.

A Reddit user known as Notmichu has posted a clip to the game’s official subreddit, showing them making an incredible Deflect play as Genji against an enemy Ana player. The clip happened on the Eichenwalde map as the Reddit player attacked the first objective. However, the video began by watching the defending team’s Ana player as they exited the spawn room. As the Support player headed towards the action, they launched a Biotic Grenade high into the air ahead of their position. Little did they know what would happen next.

Back at the battle ensuing on the first objective, Notmichu decided to activate their Deflect ability. While using the ability to block incoming fire from the attackers on the point, it perfectly countered the Biotic Grenade that had been flung by the Ana player from across the map. In fact, the deflection of the grenade even managed to hit players on the opposing team.

While NotMitchu admitted that they deflected the Biotic Grenade from Ana by accident, it still made for a memorable highlight, which many have noticed. Over the last day, the Overwatch post has gained a few hundred upvotes, and several users have commented on the insane Deflect. One user known as Pretzel-Kingg said that they thought this was bound to happen eventually in Overwatch, and they were glad it finally had. In addition, another gamer noted that they liked how the layout of the Eichenwalde map allowed Ana players to launch a well-placed grenade on the first point, like the one seen in the clip from NotMitchu.

With the days dwindling before the servers for the original Overwatch shut down, this could be one of the last times someone pulls off this type of Deflect play in the game. However, Genji is coming to Overwatch 2, meaning that gamers like NotMitchu will have a chance to pull off more insane plays with the character in the future.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
