With BlizzCon 2017 having just wrapped up, there's no better time to be an Overwatch fan and Blizzard wants to give more players the chance to try its hero shooter by making the game available for free for 3 days next weekend. From November 17-20, FPS fans will be able to download and play the popular multiplayer title without paying as much as a penny.

The full roster of 26 heroes and 16 maps will be available to access throughout the Overwatch free weekend and across all platforms, giving those curious about the game the chance to trial Blizzard's latest title in all its glory. Players will have the ability to level up their account, earning loot boxes and a variety of customization options as they fight it out in Quick Play, Custom Games, and Arcade modes.

Overwatch 35 million players

Overwatch's ranked mode, which usually unlocks when a player reaches level 25, will not be available without purchasing the full title, but any progress users make in terms of both experience points and unlocks will be kept should they choose to buy the game. The free period begins at 11:00 AM PT/ 2 PM ET on November 17 and the game will then be free to download for any gamers with a PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, or Battle.net account, depending on their chosen platform.

The trial period will come to an end at 11:59 PM PT/ 2:59 AM ET on November 20, allowing players to make the most of their limited experience as they join Overwatch's millions of fans in exciting, online play. Given the hype surrounding some of the game's more exciting BlizzCon announcements, the free weekend might just be what Overwatch needs to give some on-the-fence fans the final push they need to pick up a copy of the game for themselves.

Aside from the announcement that the long-awaited Talon support hero will be coming to the full game soon, Blizzard also revealed that Overwatch would be getting a new theme park map, inspired by some of the company's past works. 'Blizzard World' will be arriving in early 2018, and looks to be jam-packed with Easter eggs and references to some of Blizzards other major titles.

Overwatch is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game will be free-to-play beginning November 17 and ending November 20.
