With a huge roster of international characters available in Overwatch, it is unsurprising that it has a large community of artists and cosplayers bringing Blizzard's designs to life on a regular basis. Accuracy is often the main focus when it comes to cosplays, however, using the costume to tell a story can often lead to unique results. Rather than simply cosplay D.Va from Overwatch, one redditor has decided to reimagine her in a zombified form.

D.Va is arguably one of Overwatch's most popular characters. The South Korean part time streamer, part time Overwatch team member has been a solid pick for the off-tank role in Overwatch for most of the game's life, with her maneuverability and sustainability making her both a fantastic offensive and defensive pickup to round out a roster. The character's design has also made her popular, with Blizzard releasing a large amount of skins for the character during events, as well as talented Overwatch fans cosplaying her in various way.

Cosplayer Carleybombshell has posted up a few pictures of her D.Va cosplay to reddit, posing in the character's signature jumpsuit and toting her automatic blaster, accompanied by a spooky backdrop. With blood dripping from her mouth and cold, pale eyes, DVA is looking a bit worse for wear, clearly zombified by some sort of outbreak, and without her mech suit to protect her. Carleybombshell still manages to convey D.Va's constant appeal to the camera, posing and smiling, despite her undead state and torn, bloody attire; it seems that scary D.Va art is en vogue for Overwatch fans lately.

While the cosplay is a unique take on D.Va, it isn't off-brand for Overwatch, considering the game's annual Halloween event and multitude of spooky skins that go along with it. Mei already has a Jiangshi skin that replicates the costume for the mythical Chinese hopping vampires, and a zombified McCree skin has been part of the event as well. Carleybombshell's cosplay could certainly be inspiration for this year's Halloween event, or at least for cosplayers tacking other Overwatch characters who want to try something different come October.

Most would agree that not only does Carleybombshell's cosplay have a unique concept to it, it also delivers a fantastic characterization of D.Va's personality. The fact that her sunny disposition and confidence are untarnished by becoming a member of the undead horde seems to be resonant with the character's larger than life image, and it's what makes the character so appealing that even superstars like Halsey have cosplayed the Overwatch character. With October on the horizon, and a new set of Halloween skins coming with it, the possibility of a zombie D.Va edges ever closer.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
