Since its release in 2016, Blizzard’s hit hero shooter Overwatch, has captured the attention and imagination of players worldwide. With a highly anticipated sequel entering public beta later this month, the Overwatch community is abuzz with renewed creativity and excitement.

Though beloved by many, the game has had a troubled development history, featuring the addition of certain controversial maps and characters. Now, however, even some of Overwatch’s most divisive elements are getting some love in brick form.

On the Overwatch subreddit, user AL-Walker posted some impressive LEGO builds depicting a BrickHeadz style Pharah and Brigitte. BrickHeadz is a style of LEGO building that differs from creating custom Overwatch minifigures by creating characters from LEGO bricks instead of minifigure parts. Using this method, AL-Walker has captured an extraordinary likeness of the characters; Pharah’s striking blue and yellow rocket suit retains its unique, eagle-like silhouette while Brigitte wields her trademark flail and barrier.

The attention to detail is truly remarkable, as Brigitte’s hair alone is rendered in such incredible detail that fans can make out the hair clips at her temples as well as her high ponytail. Keen-eyed players will also notice the familiar lion emblem on her shield, which AL-Walker clarifies is taken from Reinhardt’s official Overwatch LEGO set. Clearly, this Brigitte has her ultimate ability active, as her golden “Rally” flag is erect behind her, presumably giving out armor to anyone within its Area of Effect.

This isn’t the first time that LEGO has fueled creative Overwatch endeavors, as both fans and developers alike have had the chance to construct Overwatch characters with LEGO assets. In 2019, LEGO collaborated with Blizzard for “Bastion’s Brick Challenge,” which saw players earn a LEGO Bastion skin and related cosmetics by winning games and participating in selected Twitch streams. Moreover, as previously mentioned, LEGO released a series of official Overwatch sets allowing fans to build D.Va, Reinhardt, Wrecking Ball, and Bastion, among other heroes.

In the caption to their creation, AL-Walker stated that this Brigitte figure has sat on their shelf for 4 years, and they are only now posting images to the subreddit despite not feeling the figure is quite ready. Claiming some pieces aren’t the right color, this goes to show the dedication and sheer effort that goes into seemingly small projects like this. As Overwatch 2 arrives with new heroes and fresh takes on established ones, more dedicated creations like this are something to look forward to.

Overwatch is currently available for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
