In the years since the hero shooter Overwatch was released, players have witnessed all kinds of hilarious events occurring as a result of glitches and bizarre programming decisions. Some of those weird happenings are more spectacular - and lethal - than others. Recently, an absurd Overwatch bug led to one D.Va player accidentally launching herself out of the Eichenwalde map entirely.

The Eichenwalde map was released during Overwatch's 2017 Halloween Terror event and takes the brawl to an abandoned castle town located deep in the Black Forest. The town was the site of a famous battle held during the Omnic Crisis that claimed the life of Reinhardt Wilhelm's teacher. In the game's present-day, the town is being slowly reclaimed by the forest, although the scars of war are still visible in its design.

Redditor DapperCoconut shared a video of themselves playing as D.Va in Eichenwalde when things got a little out of control. Apparently, they unleashed a D.Va bomb so large and devastating that it instantly transported them high into the game's stratosphere. Since Overwatch does not feature a realistically-rendered in-game atmosphere, D.Va was unharmed by the sudden pressure change, but the character quickly began falling back down to earth. Her trip down to the ground gave DapperCoconut plenty of time to examine the map from above, getting a unique view of the castle.

The video spends almost twenty seconds showing DapperCoconut's gradual descent. This isn't the first time a D.Va player has gotten stuck in the sky, but it may be one of the funniest. DapperCoconut even continued trying to fire at the enemy team throughout their fall, leading to a funny moment where D.Va pauses to reload in the middle of her descent. Interestingly, the game appears to announce that DapperCoconut did manage to eliminate another player even while well out of bounds. At the end of the video, D.Va hits the ground and is instantly killed by fall damage.

As of writing, it appears that other fans find this glitch to be very entertaining. One user joked that D.Va had been banished to the Shadow Realm for her war crimes, while a second riffed off DapperCoconut's Overwatch username being CoryBaxter and announced that Cory was no longer in the house. Several other users expressed a desire to figure out exactly how D.Va had been catapulted out of the village and into the sky. This isn't the only time an Overwatch match has been seriously affected by a bug, but it's certainly a memorable moment.

Overwatch is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
