Over its four years as a staple of the hero shooter genre, Overwatch has remained a stable game, rarely seeing game-breaking bugs due to Blizzard’s consistent updates. However, when a major issue arises it is usually tied to the hero D.Va, and a new invincibility glitch continued this tradition, with Blizzard needing to temporarily remove the tank from Overwatch as it worked on a fix.

The newfound issue with everybody’s favorite pro gamer likely ties back to D.Va’s experimental buff a few weeks ago. With the mech pilot’s health being altered to give her more survivability against weapons like Roadhog’s scrap gun, Blizzard must have slipped up with the character’s health tuning somewhere down the line. With the D.Va invincibility bug being reported in multiple games, Blizzard made the tough decision of removing her from the game entirely.

Blizzard clearly took the issue seriously by temporarily removing the character from the Overwatch roster. Tweeted out by Blizzard customer service, the team publicly shared the decision to “disable her temporarily while the problem is investigated and fixed.” While players may have enjoyed seeing similar attention put toward nerfing the overpowered hero Reinhardt, the focus on fixing D.Va paid off, as the bug has been removed and D.Va is playable once again.

D.Va was added back to the game late last night, so those maining the hero should no longer be at a loss when it comes to competitive matches. Beyond that, Overwatch’s latest Winter Wonderland event has arrived, so it is a relief that D.Va and those who play her have the chance to properly enjoy the festivities. Hopefully, D.Va and her kit are a bit less buggy going forward, as those playing the hero have encountered numerous issues over the last several months.

One bug back back in August saw D.Va’s Defense Matrix ability failing to work properly, as the shield was aimed to the side of D.Va's mech as opposed to directly in front of her. The issue lost a few players games they would have otherwise won, as the tank could no longer fulfill her purpose of eating abilities like Zarya’s ultimate. Another bug saw D.Va respawning without her mech, with yet another odd issue seeing her teleport. While these issues were eventually fixed like the recent invincibility bug, D.Va players could use a break from bugs.

With D.Va now fixed, tank players can go back to making awesome skin concepts for the game’s many heroes or freezing enemy players in Overwatch’s new Winter Brawl. While D.Va’s issues and sudden removal were certainly a bit scary, fans of the energetic hero can rest easy now.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
