It is safe to say that a good number of players get very excited when a developer announces updates for one of their popular titles. In fact, some players get so excited about the prospect that it is even enough to elicit tears, which was the very case for one Overwatch fan.

Since the release of Overwatch over two years ago, Blizzard has continued to update their popular multiplayer title, adding loads of new content and features to the game. Along with the many new alterations announced by Blizzard earlier this week was the addition of a new colorblind option that will allow players to select from a total of nine alterations.

The player in the video is a famed Overwatch Twitch streamer known as Kolorblind, who – as one may perhaps deduce by the name – is colorblind. Kolorblind is seen to get somewhat emotional of the announcement of this new feature. Although Overwatch did previously include a colorblind setting, many players felt that it was inadequate and did not do enough to help all colorblind players distinguish between enemy and friendly players. Kolorblind was one of the biggest critics of the old system and did a lot of campaigning to get Blizzard to fix the system.

Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that players will now be able to customize the colors in which their UI is displayed. Hero outlines are now also customizable and players can choose to display friendly and enemy characters in one of nine different colorblind-friendly options. The settings are easily accessible in the game’s options menu. The new setting is just one change of many Blizzard is making to the popular multiplayer title, which includes alterations to characters such as Torbjorn, among others.

It is always good to hear that publishers are attempting to make their games as accessible to as many people as possible. Hopefully, many players will get to benefit from the newly updated colorblind setting in Overwatch.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
