With Halloween only a couple of weeks away, many developers are getting ready to host in-game events to celebrate the spookiest time of the year. Amongst the games that hold an annual Halloween event, Overwatch’s in-game event is one of the more notable. With each year, the Overwatch Halloween Terror event brings many new ghoulish skins to the 6v6 shooter. Recently, one fan came up with concept art for a new skin for Echo inspired by the upcoming event.

The last hero added to the game, Echo is a top-tier DPS character. A robot with adaptive capabilities, she possesses a powerful Ultimate called Duplicate that lets her become a copy of an enemy hero for a short time. Besides this ability, she has several weapons at her disposal, such as Sticky Bombs, Focusing Beam, and Tri-Shot. Furthermore, her Flight ability lets her take the high ground with ease, while Glide gives her the ability to fall more slowly than other heroes. Taking inspiration from these flight-based abilities, one fan decided to design a new look for the hero.

In a recent Reddit post, a user known as haydnc95 showed off a new piece of concept art for Echo. In the image, the artist revealed 2 different skins for the robotic hero. While the developers created Halloween Terror event skins for Echo in the past, these new designs by haydnc95 featured a unique bat-themed aesthetic.

With this theme in mind, the creator captured the look of a bat while keeping the hero recognizable. Of particular interest in the designs were the membranous wings along with the tufts of fur similar to those found on bats. Haydnc95 also utilized colors fitting for the Halloween season: one skin was a shade of red while the other was a deep purple.

This new concept art for Echo by haydnc95 has become very popular with the Overwatch community on Reddit. With over 1,900 upvotes, many liked the new look of the skins, commenting that they wanted them added to the game. One fan even came up with a name for the skin, "Echolocation." Others suggested that another potential look for the character would be a ghost-themed skin due to her floaty appearance.

Besides this new Echo concept art, other fans have come up with creative ideas for new skins for the Halloween Terror event. Recently, another fan created concept art for Mercy, turning the healer into a vampire queen. It will be interesting to see if the developers take inspiration from these designs for future events.

Overwatch is playable now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
