Overwatch's Archives event may have ended less than two weeks ago, but Blizzard's already moving on to the next big thing. A trailer for 2018's iteration of Overwatch's Anniversary event through the official Brazilian Overwatch Twitter account leaked online on Friday. The Anniversary event started in 2017, celebrating the online multiplayer shooter's launch in May 2016. The trailer features Junkrat and Roadhog dancing, showing off a variety of Legendary Skins, and also mentions a May 22 start date.

Within the leaked trailer is also one as-yet unreleased Legendary Skin. Junkrat is shown sporting a new pirate-themed skin to match Roadhog's Sharkbait skin, though Roadhog's isn't Legendary quality.  The Junkrat skin has him sporting dreadlocks and a bandana, two crossed cutlasses on his back, as well as a ship's steering wheel to replace his RIP-tire. Fans are already dubbing the skin Captain Junk Sparrow, but odds are trademarks will prevent that from becoming official.

2017's Anniversary event was surprisingly one of Overwatch's most downplayed events. While new items and skins were featured in the event, the new game modes were somewhat straightforward custom matches. Anniversary 2017 debuted the Lockout Elimination and Limited Duel modes. The Overwatch community at the time expected something more celebratory, and it may be that Blizzard has heard the criticism and made changes for Anniversary 2018.

According to a quick translation of the text within the Overwatch Anniversary 2018 trailer, the event will include items and brawls from previous Seasons. The concept was one which the community believed would be behind Anniversary 2017, but missed the mark. Blizzard clearly heard loud and clear, agreeing that bringing back the best and most exciting Overwatch content is the perfect way to celebrate the game's anniversary.

Going by the skins shown during the short Anniversary 2018 trailer, Blizzard will be opening the floodgates. Skins were shown from Halloween Terror 2016, Winter Wonderland 2016 and 2017, and Lunar New Year 2017.  Archive and Summer Games skins are notably absent, likely because of their nearness to Anniversary on the calendar. Blizzard will almost certainly share its reasoning for what's available and what isn't when the event is officially announced.

Expect news regarding Overwatch's Anniversary 2018 event in the next week or two, leading up to the event's start on May 22.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox On.
