Of all the changes being made in Overwatch 2, the switch to 5v5 is undoubtedly the biggest, as it has resulted in major reworks for several characters and a faster, more skill-based gameplay loop. In Overwatch 2, only one Tank will be seen on each team, and some fans are concerned about the minor impacts that this will have on the hero shooter.

While having one less Tank on each team means less shields, health, and damage in each fight, it also means less hero interactions can take place in the spawn room. While the new dialogue for Overwatch 2 shows that Blizzard is putting in plenty of effort to give its new heroes some fresh voice lines, certain conversations will be completely gone and cannot be replaced. For example, with D.Va and Winston no longer able to be on the same team, fans can no longer hear these two characters talk before the match.

Further, as pointed out by Reddit user and Overwatch fan blakesmash, players can no longer pull off the iconic arm-wrestling spray combo featuring Reinhardt and Zarya. For those unfamiliar with spray combos, these see players combining two sprays together, making them interact in funny ways. From customizing Cassidy’s wanted poster to hanging ornaments from a tree, fans have used sprays in many unique ways over the years. Zarya and Reinhardt’s combo was one of the best, though, so it is not surprising to see so many disappointed that it is gone in Overwatch 2.

The original spray sees Zarya sitting at an arm-wrestling table, with the other end empty so that other players could add a spray of their own to compete with the weightlifter. Reinhardt had a spray that perfectly matched this Zarya one, and players could make the two arm-wrestle with the right placement. Aside from being a fun showing of teamwork before the match even begins, the rest of the team could have a fun discussion about who would win between the two Tanks, further building camaraderie ahead of an intense game.

Just like it will be sad to lose certain hero conversations, missing out on spray combos like this will take some time to adjust to. Hopefully, Overwatch custom games and arcade modes will keep this trend alive, as players could have the chance to put two Tanks in one group. Overwatch 2’s PvE content could be another way to keep spray combos and conversations between a pair of Tanks intact. With hundreds of sad comments seen on the post alongside over 8,800 upvotes, many clearly appreciated the arm-wrestling spray combo from the original Overwatch.

On the bright side, new heroes like Sojourn will bring many new conversations and spray combo opportunities. For fans who enjoyed pairing Reinhardt with Zarya, though, it makes sense to be a little bummed out.
