An Overwatch 2 streamer has revealed a bug exploit that makes Wrecking Ball much better in all game modes, boosting his health points to turn him into an unkillable tank hero. Despite Blizzard’s efforts to patch all the issues impacting Overwatch 2, players regularly find new bug exploits that alter the game’s balance.

Ever since the release of Overwatch 2 Season 2, Wrecking Ball has struggled to find his place in the meta. Players favor tank heroes with more impact, such as Winston or D.Va, leaving the hamster on the bench for most games. Wrecking Ball is an ideal pick to disrupt enemy backlines and harass support heroes, but his lack of survivability and independent playstyle don’t suit all team compositions.

Wrecking Ball may appear more regularly in competitive games for at least a while, though, as Overwatch 2 streamer Flats revealed a new bug exploit that turns the hamster into an almost unkillable war machine. During a recent stream, Flats explained that Wrecking Ball’s Adaptive Shield was buggy and “kinda busted.” This ability grants the tank hero with additional shield per enemy within a 10-meter radius, but a bug allows the hamster to keep this extra shield even with no enemy nearby.

Flats shared this trick with Brandon "Seagull" Larned, a former Overwatch League player for Dallas Fuel. If Wrecking Ball rolls into the battle, hits E to activate his Adaptive Shield, lets go and holds it again immediately, then rolls away while keeping it held, he can activate the extra shields one more time when the cooldown ends, even with no enemy within close range. This exploit makes Wrecking Ball much better in Overwatch 2, granting the tank hero 1,100 health points instead of his usual 700 HP. This discovery baffled ex-professional Overwatch 2 player Seagull, who stated this bug exploit explained why some of the Wrecking Balls he faced in competitive games seemed to never die.

This Overwatch 2 exploit allows Wrecking Ball to activate the extra shields one extra time but doesn’t stack or work several times in a row. It still allows the tank hero to gain additional health should he need to contest a point or head into a heated fight to help his team take the lead. Overwatch 2 players regularly find new exploits to overpower a hero and win their games, despite Blizzard’s efforts to patch the game and balance all characters. The Overwatch 2 mid-season patch notes addressed various bugs plaguing the game, but this Wrecking Ball exploit can currently still be performed in all game modes.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
