Blizzard first announced Overwatch 2 in 2019, and three years later, the game is finally nearing its official early access release date. Overwatch 2 will be available beginning October 4, and on that day, Blizzard's popular hero-shooter will be going entirely free-to-play. But while Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play, Blizzard is selling a special Watchpoint Pack that interested gamers can buy right now for a variety of perks.

The Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack costs $39.99. It comes with the Space Raider Soldier 76 and Space Raider Cassidy legendary skins, the Season 1 Battle Pass, 2,000 worth of virtual currency to spend in the shop, Overwatch 1 with five Epic skins and five Legendary skins, and guaranteed access to the beta. Those that pre-order the Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack will also get an exclusive icon.

The next Overwatch 2 PvP beta is scheduled to take place from June 28 to July 18, with sign-ups available now. Blizzard will grant players access to the beta in waves, but they can jump ahead of the line by purchasing th Watchpoint Pack. So any Overwatch fans who don't want to wait around for Blizzard to send them an invite will definitely want to consider picking up the Watchpoint Pack at some point between now and the beta start date.

This beta marks the first time that console players will get the chance to play Overwatch 2, as the first beta was exclusive to PC gamers. The upcoming Overwatch 2 beta will also give fans their first opportunity to play as new Tank hero Junker Queen, who was recently confirmed to be one of three new heroes that will be playable in the game come launch.

So far, Blizzard has confirmed two of the three new heroes that will be in Overwatch 2 at launch. Besides Junker Queen, Overwatch 2 players will also be able to play as new Damage hero Sojourn at launch. Blizzard has also confirmed that launch will include a brand-new Support hero, though their identity remains a secret at the time of this writing. The leading theory is that the new Overwatch Support hero has a pet spirit fox of some kind, but that remains to be seen.

Blizzard has made it clear that it's going to be much more aggressive when it comes to adding new content to Overwatch 2. The Overwatch 2 roadmap promises a brand-new hero for the game in December with the start of Season 2, and plenty of new content for 2023, so fans have a lot to be excited about moving forward.

Overwatch 2 launches in early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
