Overwatch 2 has released its Season 2 update, bringing long-awaited character balance changes, new hero Ramattra, and more. Overwatch 2 players can download the new update right now, though they will have to either buy the Season 2 Battle Pass or grind to Tier 45 to unlock Ramattra.

The Overwatch 2 Season 2 update patch notes are extensive and can be read here, but the highlights include bug fixes, character balance changes, and some tweaks to the Control game mode. Now whenever a team is losing the point on Control, it counts as being contested and triggers Overtime. In the meantime, players can also check out new challenges to unlock the Season 1 heroes they may have missed out on unlocking.

Damage hero Sojourn has proven to be a hugely controversial character since her debut with Overwatch 2's early access launch. Many have accused Sojourn of being overpowered in her current state, and so Blizzard has worked to nerf her as part of the Season 2 update. The changes made to Sojourn primarily focus on her Railgun, so now secondary fire falloff happens quicker and the critical damage multiplier has been reduced from 2 to 1.5 These changes means that Sojourn can no longer kill a full health 200 HP hero with a single fully charged Railgun shot, which is a significant nerf, to say the least. However, Sojourn is getting her primary fire damage increased from 9 to 10 per projectile, and her Overlock energy charge rate is being increased to 20% while her Ultimate is active, so it's not all bad news for Sojourn mains.

On the other hand, Doomfist has gotten a significant buff as part of the Overwatch 2 Season 2 update. Doomfist's damage range for his attacks have been increased, while the cooldown for his Power Block has been reduced from eight to seven seconds, and will last 2.5 seconds instead of 2. Doomfist's Meteor Strike Ultimate will now empower his Rocket Punch ability, which should give Doomfist players more combos to work with in the heat of battle. Doomfist's health has been upped from 150 to 200, and the temporary health he gets for hitting his target with abilities has been increased from 30 to 40. Whether this is far enough or goes too far remains to be seen, but it will become apparent as Overwatch 2 Season 2 marches on.

While the hero changes and the addition of Ramattra may be of most interest to Overwatch 2 players checking out Season 2, they may also want to keep in mind the updated map pools. As of the Season 2 update, Overwatch 2 players will find Blizzard World (Overcast) in playlists, as well as the Night version of the brand-new Shambali Monastery map. Meanwhile, players can also look forward to trying the Evening and Morning variants of Nepal and Oasis.

Overwatch 2 is available now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
