There's been a lot of ups and downs for Overwatch 2 players during launch week, but one in particular has their play of the game moment ruined by an untimely server disconnect message. While especially unfortunate for that player, it's been a tough week for everyone who has attempted to log in to Overwatch 2. Following a couple of beta sessions and positive buzz, the launch of Blizzard's latest game has been marred by technical issues, errors, missing content, and server disconnects.

With Overwatch 2 moving to a free to play format with challenges and battle passes, there seems to have been a higher than anticipated strain of people attempting to log in at launch. In fact, most players were unable to log in, prompting Blizzard to provide an update on the various Overwatch 2 issues. While things have largely stabilized in the days since, players continue to run into the odd error, glitch, or bug, including one player who has their big moment ruined by an untimely error.

For longtime Overwatch players, the end of match Play of the Game is a moment intended to showcase a fantastic or key play for one player in particular. For reddit user brotherlymoses aka Sleepybear, their work with the Swedish engineer Torbjorn earned them the coveted Play of the Game following an Overwatch 2 team victory. However, as the endscreen gave way to that highly anticipated reveal, a server disconnect error unceremoniously ended things before the play could be seen.

While unfortunate for brotherlymoses, the short clip did provide some humor for those in the thread with many echoing that the play was so epic that it broke the Overwatch 2 servers. Interestingly enough, this disconnect also spawned a side discussion regarding achievements potentially causing disconnects as well. More than one user indicated that earning an achievement in Overwatch 2 immediately caused them to get kicked. In fact, one user named Jrs_Hot_Dogs even mentioned they smashed their controller after unlocking various achievements four games in a row and getting sent back to an hour-long login queue.

Even with all of the issues and discontent from the community, fans have found a lot of things to enjoy regarding Overwatch 2. While it does feature a lot of content that was present in the previous Overwatch, many have found the reworks to various heroes to be refreshing. Not only that, the newest support hero Kiriko has been a big hit with most players. While she may not be classified as the best healer in the game, players have found her high mobility, damage, and helpful ultimate to be an extremely valuable addition to the team.

Overwatch 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
