Players that aren't the most precise at aiming for the head might think to avoid Sojourn in Overwatch 2. But Sojourn is one of the few heroes in all of gaming that allows for some leeway. Although her headshots are where the damage is at, her rate of fire allows for some mistakes.

She's a good pick for snipers who hate the business where windows are tight and shooting demands perfection. Sojourn has sustained damage in Overwatch 2 and can compete with both traditional snipers in terms of kills and assault heroes in terms of damage.

Playstyle

With a massive clip and a quick reload time, Sojourn needs to be closer to the backlines, squeezing the trigger the whole time. She's relatively quick to eliminate enemy shields of even the greatest tanks with her firepower, so don't try and get cute finding a way around.

She should aim for the heads of her opponents when those shields go down, building up her energy and ultimate charges. If Sojourn gets into a scrum, slide backward and jump up to escape the fray and keep shooting from a slightly elevated position.

Abilities

Overwatch 2 Sojourn Abilities

Railgun

  • Primary Fire: Rapid firing projectiles that generate energy on impact.
  • Alt Fire: High impact shot that consumes stored energy.

Sojourn has her standard primary fire which deals small but instant damage from any range without any bullet drop. If that's not enticing enough, new players to the franchise will adore the alternate fire, which is a hard-hitting bullet of the same variety, capable of lethal damage on a headshot.

Powerslide

  • Ground slide that can cancel into a high jump.

Sojourn's escape ability allows her to get out of a bad situation. The high jump at the end quickly gets her back into an offensive mentality, giving her a clear view of enemy heads from a slightly elevated position. It can also be used offensively if players are feeling so bold.

Disruptor Shot

  • Launch an energy shot that slows and deals damage to enemies within it.

Many DPS heroes need to combo with somebody else to get off clean headshots, but Sojourn's Disruptor Shot allows her to slow down enemies on her own. This grenade-like shot should be fired into the middle of opponents for maximum damage.

Overclock

  • Railgun energy auto-charges for a short duration and charged shots pierce enemies.

Sojourn's ultimate is dangerous for teams that don't immediately scatter. One piercing headshot can turn into piercing headshots for multiple opponents. The auto-charge gives the player energy even when not landing primary shots, so make the most of these extra sniping opportunities.

Tips & Tricks

Overwatch 2 Sojourn Slowing A Whole Team

Sojourn's greatest asset above typical snipers is her sustained damage in between sniper shots. She can't compete with the strength or frequency of Hanzo or Widowmaker's instant death abilities, but she can easily outdamage either of them with her primary fire. Sojourn should be constantly shooting something.

To compete with the best DPS units in the game, keep a careful eye on that energy charge. Take the next available headshot the instant it turns orange, then get back to primary fire. Alternate fire doesn't get saved, so use this as soon as it's charged every time.

Combos

  • Reinhardt

Sojourn will want to have a clean field of view with minimal risk. The large shield Reinhardt provides is just the ticket for this need. Reinhardt can stun targets with a pin or his ultimate, allowing Sojourn to rack up some nice, clean headshots.

  • Bastion

In conjunction with Sojourn, no shield can withstand more than a second or two of constant barrage. For opponents that believe they can shield their way to victory, wipe their defenses out with a constant barrage. They can also handle enemies on approach from any range.

  • Mercy

It's no surprise that Mercy remains one of the best support heroes. Partnered up with Sojourn, her damage is amplified to heights that are hard to believe. Tanks start dying with charged headshots. Opponents can't take more than a second of sustained fire before they go down.

  • Roadhog

Sojourn has two options when she sees the Roadhog hook go out. She can throw down her Disruptor Shot and slow whoever the victim is, preventing their escape. Or, if she's charged up, score a nice and simple headshot. For the quick on the trigger, go ahead and do both.

  • Baptiste

If Baptiste stacks his ultimate with Sojourn's ultimate, the combination is unreal. The damage amplification shreds anything in front. Regular shots can be outright lethal. With a charged-up Railgun blast, this can kill a tank (as well as any targets behind the tank).

Advantages & Counters

Overwatch 2 Sojourn Strength And Weakness

Aerial units such as Pharah and Echo are easy targets for Sojourn, who can clear the skies as well as any hero in the game. Shielded tanks already struggle with Sojourn, tanks without Shields such as Junker Queen and Roadhog are fodder, giving Sojourn free charges and easy headshots. Any other heroes who are light on mobility are likewise in trouble.

Any heroes that can escape or evade Soujourn's slow will give her problems. Those who have been on a hero-unlocking spree can use Genji, Lucio, Tracer, and other infiltrators to pester Sojourn into escaping. Even then, they'll be back in control once she lands. Brigitte's shield helps out when it comes to tanking and may provide more shields than Sokourn can handle. Finally, Zarya will take advantage of Sojourn's constant damage with her shields, forcing Sojourn to accidentally give her more damage.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
