Overwatch 2 reveals the newest Escort map called Shambali coming to the game in Season 2. Shambali located in Nepal, which is a location already in the game, is the home of the Shambali Monastery where some omnics retreated after the Omnic Crisis to live in peace.

Overwatch has made references to Shambali through voice lines between characters and bits of lore trickled out over the years. As part of the Ramattra content reveal, Overwatch 2 revealed the Shambali Escort map coming to the game in Season 2. The place where both Ramattra and Zenyatta lived before leaving the Monastery for different reasons is presumably located near the already existing Nepal map, with many similar designs to the Sanctum level of the Control map.

The new map was shown on the PlayOverwatch Instagram account and YouTube channel via YouTube Shorts. The snowy and mountainous map consists of tight streets, flanking hallways, Shambali iconography, and a simple flatbed truck as the payload. The path of the payload is surrounded by dwellings where the omnics and humans presumably live in harmony in accordance with the Shambali teachings. Shambali should also introduce new bits of lore from Ramattra and Zenyatta returning to their homes. Especially if the two characters who were once as close as brothers are on the same team.

The reveal of the Shambali map is the last of the scheduled Season 2 content unveiled around Overwatch 2's newest hero Ramattra. The format in which the map was revealed leaves many more secrets to be discovered by fans about the new map. Overwatch 2 fans have now seen gameplay for Ramattra, the leader of Null Sector, and lore that educates the players about Ramattra, which includes the years after he left the Shambali and the immediate aftermath of the King's Row Uprising.

All the details for Season 2 of Overwatch 2 have been revealed. This season starting on December 6 will also see a new log-in reward system that will give players cosmetics after much of the complaints in Season 1 were that the game's cosmetic system felt too restrictive and handcuffed to the paid Battle Pass or the shop with seemingly egregious pricing.

With a new hero and map, multiple events, balancing changes to existing heroes, and a new rotation of maps including different lighting for some Overwatch 2 maps, Season 2 is set to have its own unique feel. Introducing new content regularly like this as more time passes could help keep Overwatch 2 at the top of mind for players and keep the game in top form.

Overwatch 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
