Activision Blizzard has added a brand-new Mei skin to Overwatch 2 despite the fact that she still hasn't been brought back to the game after being removed from the hero shooter last month due to a bug associated with one of her abilities. Mei was removed from Overwatch 2 with an October 31 update, but it remains unclear when she'll return to the playable roster while the shop strangely continues to get her skins.

Reddit user Steelvengeance55 recently posted an Overwatch 2 screenshot from the shop which features the new Epic Mei skin which is available for 1,000 Overwatch Coins. Although Overwatch 2 players are often lamenting the price of the shop cosmetics, the primary problem many had with this Mei skin is the fact that they can't play the hero that the skin is based on.

Steelvengeance55's Overwatch 2 shop image shows a standard Mei uniform that swaps the blue and shades of off-white for an orange, pink, and turquoise color scheme. The new Mei skin added to the Overwatch 2 shop today is known as Retro Star and features a star on the hero's chest with a pink stripe following beside it. Much of the Epic Mei's gear is orange and pink, with turquoise trim that compliments the character's hair which swaps her usually brunette shade for a more vibrant color.

The rotating Overwatch 2 cosmetic shop has been updated to include the Epic Mei skin today, while many fans of the icy hero are still anticipating her return to the hero roster. Because Mei has many fans in the Overwatch 2 community, some players wish to purchase the cosmetic but aren't sure when they can expect to play the hero shooter with it in the future. Activision Blizzard has confirmed that Mei will return as part of the midseason patch, but it has delayed the Overwatch 2 update to an unannounced date due to a critical issue that still hasn't been resolved.

Although many fans have voiced their displeasure about Mei being left out of the game but not the daily shop, others have criticized the look of Retro Star by comparing it to other Overwatch cosmetics like McDonald's Tracer. While a couple of Overwatch 2 players were quick to point out that the cosmetics development team is separate from the one that's fixing Mei, some remain faithful that Activision Blizzard can fix the hero swiftly.

Overwatch 2 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
