Blizzard has revealed some of the first details about Overwatch 2 Season 2, which will kick off in December 2022. Overwatch 2 is currently in the midst of its Season 1 of content, which has included a Battle Pass with Cyberdemon Genji as its ultimate reward and the return of the annual Halloween Terror event. There's still about a month left of Overwatch 2 Season 1, but Blizzard has already started teasing fans with what they can expect from Season 2.

In the lead-up to Overwatch 2's early access release, Blizzard gave fans an idea of what they could expect from the game's seasons. Whereas Overwatch 1 has suffered from rather extreme content droughts, Blizzard is determined that Overwatch 2 will have a steady stream of new content. This will include new maps, new game modes, PvE content, new heroes, and much more in the years ahead.

Even-number Overwatch 2 seasons will include new heroes, which makes Season 2 especially exciting. Here is everything Overwatch 2 fans have to look forward to when Season 2 launches next month, based on what Blizzard has revealed so far.

When Does Overwatch 2 Season 2 Start?

  • Tuesday, December 6

The most important bit of information when it comes to Overwatch 2 Season 2 is when it starts. Barring any unexpected delays, Overwatch 2 players should make sure to mark December 6 on their calendars. On that day, Blizzard will be kicking off Overwatch 2 Season 2, and when it does, it will be adding a brand-new Tank hero to the roster.

Overwatch 2 New Hero for Season 2

At the Overwatch League Grand Finals, Blizzard revealed the new Tank hero that's coming to the game as part of Season 2, Ramattra. Ramattra is an omnic terrorist and the leader of the villainous Null Sector group. Ramattra has some interesting lore ties to Zenyatta, along with unique abilities that should make him standout in the game's lineup of Tank heroes. Fans have yet to see Ramattra gameplay, but Blizzard should be providing more details on his full kit and abilities in the days leading up to the December 6 Season 2 start date.

More information on other content coming with Overwatch 2 Season 2 should also be revealed in the days and weeks ahead. Besides Ramattra, Overwatch 2 Season 2 is also expected to add a new map based on the hero, plus it will most likely see the return of the Winter Wonderland seasonal event. Halloween Terror included some new PvE content this year, so it will be interesting to see if Winter Wonderland gets the same treatment.

Overwatch 2 is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
