Playing Overwatch 2 online can be frustrating, as one player found out when their team abandoned them during a match, but in a wholesome twist, the enemy team worked together to get Reaper a pentakill. Comp matches in Overwatch 2 do not currently have a surrender option, which leads to situations with a full team of 5 against the 1 remaining player. Thankfully this video shared on Reddit has a happier ending than watching one player continuously get killed while walking out of the spawn point.

The character Reaper in Overwatch 2 is mostly unchanged in looks, playstyle, and abilities from where he was at the end of Overwatch. Using twin Hellfire Shotguns, Reaper is a close-range flanker that relies on skirting around the sides of a skirmish and ambushing the opposing team. Without a team of their own, anyone playing Reaper is at a severe disadvantage as the character's only defensive option is a 35% passive life steal. Reaper's player Wavychain had no options except to either leave with a penalty or play out the remainder of the match.

In the clip posted to Reddit by user rawroba, it's clear that Wavychain's opponents showed mercy and felt bad after the rest of their team left the game. Using Moira's healing beam, rawroba keeps their teammates alive so that Reaper's ultimate ability can be charged up with all five opponents surrounding him in perfect range for his Death Blossom. A Mercy Overwatch 2 player shared a wholesome moment from their own teammate, but this clip shows a wholesome moment from the opposing team, which is a very rare occurrence in online matches.

Death Blossom, Reaper's ultimate ability, rapidly fires off the Hellfire Shotguns in a tight circular pattern hitting all nearby opponents for 170 damage per second. Wavychain's opponents remained perfectly set up, including failing to heal some damage, to ensure that all of them fell in one ultimate and gifted the pentakill. This pentakill isn't as impressive as killing the entire team with Tracer's pulse bomb, but it is satisfying and a very nice gesture from a group of strangers.

Overwatch fans have been asking Blizzard to incorporate a surrender feature since the first ranked season. Moving on to the sequel has not stopped fans from asking why Overwatch 2 doesn't allow surrendering in comp matches when one side is clearly outmatched, or in the case of Wavychain, most of a team quits the match. Other fans responded to these comments beneath rawroba's video by explaining that a surrender feature can be abused by players to either get favorable match ups or to grief their own teammates. Fan debates are common, recently including Overwatch 2's Cassidy, and while the discussion over allowing a surrender option or not will remain ongoing, wholesome moments in online matches remain a delight for everyone.

Overwatch 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
