The developers of Overwatch 2 have revealed some interesting details regarding the relationship and shared history between Zenyatta and Ramattra, the new Omnic tank hero that will be coming to the game when Season 2 launches on December 6. Ramattra will be the first new hero since Kiriko, who came to Overwatch 2 when it released at the beginning of October.

Ramattra was first revealed to be the next hero character in Overwatch 2 during the Grand Finals of the Overwatch League early last month. His reveal was accompanied by the Omnic tank hero's origin story, later followed by a trailer revealing his powerful ability kit. Ramattra is to be the first "tempo tank" character in Overwatch 2, featuring 2 different forms - Omnic Form and Nemesis Form. While his Omnic Form sees him wielding the Void Accelerator staff which can fire projectile streams and create barriers on the map, his massive Nemesis Form allows him to take heaps of additional damage and deal powerful blows with his fists instead of a staff. Combined with his other moves, players will be able to use Ramattra's different abilities to match different situations.

As another playable Omnic character in the world of Overwatch 2, Ramattra of course comes with his own detailed backstory, and some of this was detailed in a new developer update. Long before Ramattra founded the Omnic terrorist group known as Null Sector, he was a Shambali monk. He met Zenyatta along his travels and passed along the ways and teachings of the Shambali to him, the two Omnics forming a brother-like bond over many years as they discussed the problems that their kind faced. Eventually, Ramattra left the Shambali to form Null Sector and rebel against the violence inflicted by humanity upon the Omnic race. Despite not speaking to Zenyatta since he founded Null Sector, Ramattra apparently still thinks highly of him, considering him to be his most trusted friend.

Ramattra is just a couple of days away from joining the Overwatch 2 character roster, coming along with Season 2 on December 6. Though he'll be freely unlockable for all players, fans will have to gain access to the hero by reaching tier 55 of the Season 2 battle pass - unless, of course, they purchase the premium battle pass, which will allow instant access to the hero. Unlike Kiriko, veteran Overwatch players will not have instant access to Ramattra without buying the premium pass.

Ramattra has been a subject of great anticipation among the Overwatch 2 community over the past month, though some fans have their reservations as to how powerful the character will prove to be in the game's meta during Season 2. With only a couple of days left to wait, it won't be long before players can try out the new tank hero first-hand in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
