When Overwatch 2 was first revealed, fans were extremely excited about the PvE mode, as Blizzard was finally delivering content that would move the story forward in a major way. Skill trees showed a promising amount of depth for every character on the roster, hundreds of Hero Missions were promised by Blizzard, and fans were excited to see new areas of fan favorite maps. Though Blizzard has not showcased any new content from PvE in months, the latest hero reveal could double as a campaign tease.

Fans know that the Overwatch 2 PvE mode will focus on a new Omnic uprising that was seemingly organized by Doomfist and a mysterious Omnic in the Storm Rising mission. This Omnic has been confirmed to be the leader of Null Sector, was given the name Rammatra, and will be the series’ 36th playable character. Though fans did not know why these Omnics were attacking again, it seems like they now have their answer, with Rammatra pushing his people to rise up. If he is at the heart of the Omnic attacks, it only makes sense for him to be the final boss.

Overwatch 2 Fans Know They Will Face Other Heroes in The Campaign

Overwatch 2 Widowmaker new skin

Considering how Talon is the main villain faction in the Overwatch universe, it is hardly a surprise that their agents will be appearing in the campaign. Thus far, fans have seen Widowmaker zooming around a map, with the fight against her likely forcing players to dodge her shots as they make their way to an area where she can be easily taken down. With Widowmaker being an AI-controlled enemy, it only makes sense that other characters get the same treatment.

Players will likely fight other Talon agents like Reaper, who has already proven he can be a nuisance in the Junkenstein’s Revenge brawl. Sigma seems like a perfect option for a big fight, as he can tear apart an arena during his boss battle using his gravity abilities. Though Sombra could subvert expectations to help Overwatch or just get out of its way, as she is only in Talon for purely selfish purposes, Doomfist makes sense as another boss battle - and he could even accompany Ramattra to make for a boss fight with dual enemies.

Games like Dark Souls with its iconic Ornstein and Smough battle have shown the strength of a boss pairing, especially when the two enemies perfectly compliment each other. This would be the case with Overwatch 2, as Doomfist’s quick punches and combos would have him zooming around the map. Ramattra, on the other hand, could be in his bulky Nemesis form, giving players an enemy with more health and power to be afraid of.

Though the bond between the Talon and Null Sector leaders could result in an intimidating pairing, Ramattra could easily be a standalone final boss. After all, his two forms means that he could have two phases. In his first phase where he is wielding his staff and is much smaller/weaker, he could have a variety of other Omnics to spread player attention and give him protection. Once his health bar is taken down, a brief cutscene could play out where he changes into his Nemesis form and gets a new health bar, with Ramattra being so strong in phase two that he does not need any support from other bots.

Ramattra’s addition is not only good news for fans of Zenyatta, as it means more lore for the Omnic monk due to his closeness with Null Sector’s leader, but it also is a promising sign for PvE. Suddenly, the new Omnic uprising has become more interesting, with a face and voice leading the charge. Hopefully, Ramattra is the final boss as opposed to a generic, massive Omnic bot, with players battling a powered up version of the latest Tank hero at the end of the campaign.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
