Last month, Blizzard hosted the first-ever Overwatch 2 PvP beta, letting fans of the hero shooter try its new 5v5 setup for the first time. However, the first Overwatch 2 PvP beta was restricted to PC gamers, meaning console players were left out of the action. That will change with the next Overwatch PvP beta, which now has an official start date, console support, and much more.

Blizzard has announced that the next Overwatch 2 PvP beta will take place on Tuesday, June 28. This won't be an open beta, so anyone interested in participating will have to sign up. Blizzard has confirmed that sign-ups will be available starting this coming Thursday, June 16, which is the same day as the Overwatch 2 reveal event. Those on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox will all get to play, though it seems Switch gamers are being left out, unfortunately.

Full details on what the next Overwatch 2 PvP beta will entail have not been announced just yet, but more details will come during the Overwatch 2 reveal event on June 16. In the meantime, Blizzard has confirmed that recently revealed Tank hero Junker Queen will be playable in the beta. Not only that, but Overwatch 2 fans will also be able to duke it out on a brand-new map that will presumably be revealed on June 16.

When is the Next Overwatch 2 Beta?

  • Tuesday, June 28

The Overwatch 2 reveal event starts at 10am PT on June 16, and it's then when fans will learn a lot more about the next beta. It could also be home to other announcements and reveals as well. Besides the fact that Overwatch 2 fans will learn more about the next beta, it's also been confirmed that the Junker Queen animated short will make its premiere. Fans got a glimpse of the Junker Queen animated short during the OW2 trailer at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, but they'll soon be able to watch the whole thing.

Overwatch animated shorts have long been a part of the game's DNA, providing the backstory and lore for the game's various characters and locales. Blizzard hasn't released a proper Overwatch animated short in years, which is what makes the new Junker Queen animated short dropping on June 16 so exciting.

Now that the Overwatch 2 early access release date is in sight, fans can expect Blizzard to reveal information about the game on a more regular basis. It's likely that there will be even more beta testing periods besides the one that's starting on June 28, perhaps even an open beta, so fans should stay tuned.

Overwatch 2 launches in early access on October 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
