Matchmaking is not the only element of Overwatch 2 that has come under fire, however. But now Blizzard has finally acknowledged the existence of two huge issues and revealed a bit of what it intends to do about them.
A new blog post from Game Director Aaron Keller has revealed that Overwatch 2's On Fire feature will see changes, as well as the progression system and Play of the Game will be revamped. Popularly called POTG, this system highlights a moment in the match where a player had a big impact, such as getting team kills. It is worth noting that Keller did not go into specific details about what will change. While the current POTG is criticized for being inconsistent, the new version will show a greater variety of game-making plays.
There is also a lot of criticism of progression in Overwatch 2, considered problematic and with much to be desired, as well as offering a frustrating experience. To shed light on this problem, Keller said that the devs are working on a much larger hero and player progression system. This system will replace the current one and offer a lot of categories for players to level and show their progress. The revamped progression system has no release date, but Keller expects it to happen later this year.
Overwatch 2 keeps offering content to make the game as appealing to the community as possible. Competitive tweaks are also being made, even as the community debates their effectiveness. The fact that Blizzard has finally addressed the POTG and progression issues is great news for players as well.
