The latest bug inside Overwatch 2 sees Sombra getting reverse hacked by Soldier: 76 during the Play of the Game cinematic. While more comical than harmful to the overall experience, this Sombra glitch is relatively minor compared to some of the issues the game has faced following its launch. In fact, following its release, the game was unplayable for a large portion of the audience as server issues, errors, and huge queues made logging in to Overwatch 2 nearly impossible.

While Blizzard has managed to stabilize the experience to the point where players can log in and play, the odd bug or glitch can still appear at times. Some, such as Overwatch 2 heroes being locked when a match begins, have had a negative impact on the game. However, thanks in large part to social media and websites like Reddit, fans have been sharing plenty of odd visual glitches or immersion breaking bugs stemming from things like character emotes and victory poses.

The latest visual glitch for Overwatch 2 comes from a Reddit user called LiamAcko. Following a match victory, the player Yodiomensen is awarded Play of the Game, using the Hacking cinematic for Sombra. Traditionally, the highlight cinematic acts as a sort of troll, showing another player as being the play of the game, only to have the screen become hacked with Sombra's skull icon, where it's revealed she's actually the real Play of the Game.

What's interesting is that the clip from LiamAcko actually shows the highlight intro seemingly taking place in reverse. The first character shown is Sombra, though the messaging thinks it's actually Soldier: 76 being shown. Then, the screen shifts as expected only now Soldier: 76 is shown with the Sombra Play of the Game messaging on screen. The game's confusion seems to be a bit more widespread as people commenting on the post are sharing similar stories. Some have seen character models outright disappear, blink rapidly, or this very animation where Sombra randomly switches with another teammate.

While there are plenty who are disappointed this issue hasn't yet been fixed by Blizzard considering it was taking place during the beta over the Summer, it isn't the first problem that the Play of the Screen cinematic has had over the years. In fact, one Overwatch 2 player had their PotG completely ruined when the server disconnected just as the clip was about to play. Fans posted all kinds of clips from the original Overwatch including one who posted a video of Wrecking Ball getting PotG by getting three eliminations even though they were stunned and rolling around.

Overwatch 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
