Achievements may not be the most important feature of a game, but they can add a lot of replayability to the title. Achievements encourage players to explore every inch of the game, collect every collectible, and use every item. For multiplayer games, achievements tend to encourage new styles of play, and Overwatch 2's new achievements certainly do that.

Much like other AAA multiplayer games, Overwatch 2's achievement list is designed specifically to ensure that players see all there is to see in the game. As well as general achievements based around completing a certain number of matches or hitting specific milestones, Overwatch 2 also has a slew of hero-based achievements, each of which requires the player to pull off some stylish, skillful moves as every hero. With 160 achievements in the game, players have plenty to do in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2's New Achievements

For the most part, Overwatch 2's achievement list is almost identical to that of the first game. That being said, there are a handful of new achievements in Overwatch 2, most of which revolve around the sequel's new heroes. Each of Overwatch 2's three new heroes, Kiriko, Junker Queen, and Sojourn, all have two unique achievements each, requiring players to perform specific character actions with their abilities.

The Junker Queen's two achievements revolve around her ability to wound enemy players, and her Jagged Blade attack. The first achievement, "Adrenaline Junkie," tasks players with having seven active wounds at the same time on enemy players. This shouldn't be too difficult, as most of Junker Queen's abilities inflict the wound status effect, meaning that players just need to land seven successful blows in quick succession. "Coup de Gracie" requires players to throw their Jagged Blade into an enemy, pull them back, and use the Carnage axe ability to finish them off.

Sojourn's achievements all focus on the character's Railgun. "On the Move" sees players get a charged Railgun headshot kill while sliding, and "Taking Charge" has the player get four killing blows with one single use of Sojourn's Overclock ultimate. These achievements aren't too tricky to pull off, but they do require quite a bit of accuracy on the player's part, which could be an issue for those using a controller.

Kiriko's new achievements may be some of the most difficult in the entire game to get. "Purified" tasks players with using Kiriko's Protection Suzu ultimate to cleanse five negative status effects at once, which could be pretty difficult, as negative effects aren't often applied to multiple teammates at once, requiring some lucky timing. "Yokai" is also a little tricky, asking Kiriko players to restore 1,500 points of health, and land five critical hits, all without dying.

There are also a handful of achievements in Overwatch 2 that are essentially just updates on those found in the original game. The "Level 10," "Level 25," and "Level 50" achievements now task the player with reaching those respective levels on the Battle Pass, as opposed to just hitting those general EXP levels. Aside from these new achievements, there are also over 150 others in the game, ranging from event-specific challenges, to general milestones, to all the hero-based achievements present in the original Overwatch. This includes some of the most notoriously difficult achievements from the first Overwatch, including "The Floor is Lava," which sees Lucio players get three wall-riding kills without dying, and "Rapid Discord," which tasks Zenyatta players with getting four kills or assists with the Orb of Discord in just six seconds.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
