Some Overwatch 2 Tank players miss the Queen, wanting her to rule over the other Tanks like she did in the beta. The balance changes made in the pre-launch patch saw her use in public matches plummet, and now players are deliberating on what buffs can be implemented to bring Junker Queen back to relevancy.

Junker Queen was introduced to Overwatch 2 during the second public beta, and despite not having competitive rules in Quick Play matches, she became a constant in games. For much of the Summer Showdown tournament in the Overwatch League that ran on the same patch, she was the linchpin in team composition. Though some players found her fun, the meta became stale as a result. So before the game went live to the public again, the Overwatch 2 developers introduced some nerfs to get some fluidity in Tank picks.

Fans of Junker Queen have not had a great time playing her in games since and want her to get some buffs to get her to feel competitive with the other tanks in Overwatch 2. In an r/Overwatch post, fans are discussing what could be changed to bring her back to relevancy. They are honing in on Junkerqueen's Shout ability and Bleed effects as part of the reason she's fallen out of favor. Both of these were nerfed, but fans are suggesting that the developers went too hard the other way.

The Commanding Shout now does 50 healing HP to her and her allies, half of what it once was. Its cooldown was also increased to 15 seconds from 11. Giving her back some of her self-healing from the Bleed effect and her ally healing output can help bring her playability back in line with other tanks. Kiriko also counters the status effects that Junker Queen can inflict so she doesn't get too far out of line.

As dominating as Junker Queen was in that pre-release state, Sojourn was just as powerful of a character but did not get the same treatment even though her place in the meta has never changed. There has also been no word recently from the developers about any potential buffs or nerfs to either of these characters in the November 15 hero balance patch.

There is time for the developers to deliberate more on Junker Queen's place in the meta before the next update arrives, but with Ramattra on the way in Season 2, there may not be as much interest from the developers or fans in getting her balanced into the meta for some time.

Overwatch 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
