Blizzard has released a new apology for the issues Overwatch 2 players have endured since the launch of the game and announced that players will be receiving free cosmetics soon. Overwatch 2 players will also be getting multiple Double XP weekends in the future as part of the apology for the launch issues.

In the week since the game came out, Overwatch 2 has been plagued by DDoS attacks, a variety of Battle.net account issues, and a host of bugs and glitches that have sullied the reputation of the game. In an apparent act of self-awareness Blizzard, through the PlayOverwatch Twitter account, owns up to the issues the game has had in the week since launch. Calling the release "bumpy," Blizzard re-affirms its commitment to ironing out lingering issues. Included in this latest apology, Blizzard handing out gifts in the form of free Overwatch 2 loot for players, and Double XP Weekends will soon come to the game.

Overwatch 2's public perception has taken a beating since its launch. While the stability of the game has gradually increased, constant problems with bugs, server connection, and account-related issues have frustrated fans. In the comment sections of Overwatch 2-related Reddit posts and Twitter mentions, some fans have been calling for compensation to players for all the trouble they've endured during the week. Those fans are now getting their wish and while some fans may take this peace offering as proper recompense, there are sure to be others that will say it's not enough. Either way, the game is getting fixed as fans have been asking and hopefully, there is a future for Overwatch 2 that will get it back to being one of the industry's leading multiplayer experiences.
