In an online post from earlier today, an Overwatch 2 player shared a picture of the long queue times for tank and damage players, opening the thread up to a flurry of comments. Since the release of Overwatch 2, fans have complained about long queue times and server issues, while also expressing frustration about changes to the original game's formula.

However, this fan's post serves as a stark reminder that queue issues remain several weeks after the game's release. Some players are finding that it takes a while to grasp Overwatch 2's hero balance given the game's reworked gameplay, and some fans of the original game have expressed concerns about changes to combat and team dynamics. Yet, the one thing that is clearly frustrating players the most is the absurdly long queue times required for the roles of tank and damage.

In a screenshot posted to Reddit, user kokv19 shared an image detailing a greater than 19-minute wait time to play as a damage hero and a greater than 18-minute wait time to play as a tank. The thread spawned many comments, with players expressing their dissatisfaction with these long queue times. This is evidence of the launch issues that have plagued Blizzard recently.

94% of Reddit users who viewed the thread up-voted it, with comments ranging from frustration about wait times to other gripes about the content of the game. Some players were upset with gameplay elements on console, while others found the text and chat communication features within the game difficult to use. User 42pockets expressed dismay as to why Blizzard dropped the second tank option for a team, while a host of other users agreed with his criticism. One user was angry that Blizzard raised the cost of Overwatch 2 league tokens for console players.

The primary pain point among players is that daily challenges can only be played by selecting the queue as all roles option, leaving the majority of players stuck in a support role they don't want. Reddit's user zunashi commented, "this may be the major downfall of the game." The right combination of heroes is vital in Overwatch 2, with many players investing countless hours mastering a hero's skills and mechanics. Being unable to play in a role a player has practiced for years is both frustrating and counterintuitive. Hopefully, Blizzard can rectify the situation soon, ensuring that gamers can access whatever role they prefer and have the exciting experience Overwatch 2 fans want.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
