Overwatch 2 players find a new Sombra bug that allows the hacker to go into the payload, essentially making her immune to most damage types. Overwatch 2 has seen a huge amount of players try out the new free-to-play shooter since it launched a couple of weeks ago, and while the experience is mostly positive for many, there have been some bugs and glitches. Some can't play as heroes they've unlocked in Overwatch 2 thanks to a glitch in the progression system, for example.

Also, some heroes have had to be removed due to bugs causing them to gain unfair advantages. Torbjorn and Bastion were both removed from competitive play and the latter cannot even be located in Overwatch 2's menus at the time of writing. Torbjorn had a glitch that allowed him to use his Overload ability twice in a row, while Bastion was tearing through Overwatch 2 with an ult that let him fire off many more projectiles than he was meant to.

Now, a new hero bug has been discovered within Overwatch 2, and it allows Sombra to enter the payload. Using her stealth ability in combination with a few other moves, Sombra can dive straight into the payload, moving along with it during an Overwatch 2 game. While in the payload, Sombra cannot be damaged by enemy fire, which has led to panic from some in the Overwatch 2 community that believe this could lead to some unfair moments in matchmaking, as the hacker can still charge up and use her ultimate while in the payload.

While Sombra remains invulnerable to regular enemy fire in the payload, it could be that there are some counters to the glitch in Overwatch 2. As Sombra is only hiding within an object, abilities that pass through walls could theoretically kill her, such as Hanzo's ultimate. There hasn't been extensive research on this bug at the time of writing, and it may be that Sombra is removed in a similar style to Bastion while Blizzard works on a fix. Considering in the Overwatch lore Sombra is a hacker, it makes some sense that she'd be capable of such a glitch, but she's not the only character who made her way into the payload.

In the original Overwatch days, a Tracer bug let her also stay in the payload which means that other heroes might be able to do what Sombra can. It seems that Blizzard is still working on fixing other Overwatch 2 problems, many of which have been identified since the game launched. At least, for those that have had problems, a free legendary skin is coming to Overwatch 2 as compensation from Blizzard.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
