Overwatch 2 players aren't happy to discover that the aim assist feature is turned off when console users meet up with those on PC. Overwatch 2 is just over a week old, but already it seems the internet is full of opinions on Blizzard's latest free-to-play shooter. While it is a continuation of the original Overwatch, the second game brings in a lot of new features, and not all of these are proving to be popular. Already, fans have critiqued Overwatch 2 for its new stance on hero progression, among other things.

While many have praised Overwatch 2 for its improvements on the already impressive gameplay of the original game, some are still finding plenty of problems with the shooter. The first major issue fans ran into was when they tried to play the game, as the queue times were so long they even inspired some Overwatch 2 fan art and "speedruns." As players continue to delve into the title, it seems some are making discoveries about the more controversial features Blizzard has implemented.

One of these changes regards aim assist. Namely, when Overwatch 2 players on console run into PC users, the aim assist mechanic will be turned off. To enter cross-play with those on PC in Overwatch 2, a console player must join a PC group. This then leads to the aim assist being turned off, which has caused some controversy among the fanbase who believe that PC players already get an unfair advantage due to their higher average framerate, better camera control, and more precise aiming with a mouse.

Many FPS titles such as Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Vanguard have included aim assist in order to give console players a fairer fight. However, problems have then arisen as PC players believed that the console aim assist was too overpowered compared to their own advantages. It seems Blizzard is more inclined to side with its PC community on this issue, which has led to some upset console players. Due to cross-play being quite difficult to achieve between PC and console in Overwatch 2, at least most players won't have to worry about this issue unless their friends play on PC.

This isn't exactly a new development for Blizzard though, as back when Overwatch first introduced cross-play, it also didn't allow console players to use aim assist when playing with PC users. It seems console owner will have to start picking Soldier 76 if they want to use any sort of aim assist in cross-play matches.

Overwatch 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
