Outriders is the latest looter-shooter RPG to launch, and players can experiment with a large selection of statistics and attributes, including healing through Weapon and Skill Leeching, to find their favorite playstyle.

So far, Outriders has proven to be very popular and quickly broke its own concurrent player record on Steam after only a few days. The game has an impressive level of depth when it comes to customizing a character’s skills and attributes for each of the four classes, and grinding for gear thanks to the World Tier system.

“Leeching” is just one of many passive attributes that Outriders players can experiment with to match their playstyle. It is a form of healing that gives players a proportion of health based on the amount of damage they do and is separate to the class-specific healing methods and passive health regeneration. It is a useful skill for all Classes but can be especially useful for the Trickster and Devastator since they need to put themselves in direct danger by fighting enemies up close.

Leeching is further broken down into Weapon and Skill Leeching. Weapon Leeching will give players health back based on the damage they deal with their weapons, and Skill Leeching works in the same way except it is based on the damage players deal with their Class Skills.

Players can see their character’s Leeching attributes by opening the stats tab on the inventory screen. The Weapon and Skill Leeching attributes are shown as a percentage which represents the proportion of damage they will receive as health. For example, if a player deals 100 damage to an enemy with a Class Skill and they have a Skill Leech of 10%, the player will immediately receive 10 health points.

How to Improve Leeching

Outriders players can enhance their Leeching attributes in two ways. The first is by spending their Class Points on specific perks on the Skill Tree that increase Weapon or Skill Leech. For instance, the Pyromancer Class can improve their Weapon Leech by 5% for each “Moths to the Flame” perk they unlock in the Ash Breaker path. Similarly, each “Unquenchable” perk that a Pyromancer player unlocks increases Skill Leech by 6%.

The second way Leeching can be improved is through Attribute statistics on Unusual (Green) gear or better. In the stat block of a weapon or piece of armor, players will be able to see an improvement to one – or more depending on the item’s rarity – of the many character Attributes in Outriders. If a piece of gear has a value for Weapon or Skill Leech, it will improve that Attribute by the listed percentage.

A player will only benefit from the Attribute boosts on a piece of armor if they have that armor equipped. In the case of weapons, players will only benefit from the Attribute boosts if they have the weapon equipped and held. This means that players’ Attribute stats will change depending on whichever weapon they are currently holding.

For example, this machine gun has a Weapon Leech of 9.33%. If a player switches to a different weapon without a Weapon Leech statistic, players will not heal when they deal damage with that weapon. These Attribute boosts on gear can also be improved through crafting.

Outriders is full of high-tier Epic and Legendary weapons and armor for players to chase. They will offer plenty of Attribute boosts which players can use to enhance their fighting abilities on Enoch.

Outriders is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
