Outriders just launched, and has boasted some impressive sales numbers and a good reception from fans and critics alike. However, Outriders has also been frustrating to its community because of numerous bugs that have plagued the new looter-shooter since it released.

Outriders first started making headlines when its demo was a big hit among interested players, and then did so again when it was announced that the title would be on Xbox Game Pass when it launched. On release, however, Outriders was subject to server problems before running into additional matchmaking issues and a bug on consoles that saw the game infinitely loading when players tried to sign in.

Many of these issues were answered by developer People Can Fly releasing tentative workarounds until the bugs were fixed, but now players are reporting their loot being wiped. This is understandably a big problem to have in a title with a gameplay loop centered around collecting rare gear, a lot of which requires players to grind. The bug seems to be triggered by joining online games, so players who are taking on Outriders solo shouldn't have a reason to be concerned, but anyone looking to play with friends or through matchmaking should be cautious.

While no official statement has been released on the cause of the bug or any possible workarounds, players on the Outriders subreddit have worked out that the problem seems to arise when players join a multiplayer game and leave before their gear is properly loaded in. If this is the case, it is made all the worse by Outrider's matchmaking issues seeing players being kicked from online games frequently. This means players opting to play online are taking a big risk every time they load into an online match, and has led to some members of the community calling for players to simply stop joining online matches until the bug is fixed.

There is no word yet as to whether or not affected players will be able to have their loot restored once the bug is resolved, making joining an online match scary for some players. Hopefully, the developers will be able to address the issues sooner rather than later so Outriders' players can enjoy the game's end game now that the server issues are being ironed out. Until then, many players may want to go it alone until a patch is released that makes everyone's hard-earned loot safer.

Outriders is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
