Outriders has a new action-packed trailer out, focusing on the apocalyptic game's "Mantras of Survival." The Outriders trailer gives players rules to live by if they want to survive the hostile world of Enoch.

Square Enix and People Can Fly's hybrid shooter-RPG has been one of gamers' most anticipated titles of the year. Unfortunately the game was pushed back until 2021, but some do see the Outriders delay as a good thing. Especially after seeing the amount of bugs plaguing Cyberpunk 2077's launch.

Premiering at The Game Awards 2020, the trailer effectively breaks down its gameplay aspects by turning them into its mantras. Fittingly set to Bring Me the Horizon's "MANTRA," the new Outriders video touches on its four values. The first is "Cover's for Cowards," establishing the developer's intent for a fast-paced, intense gameplay. A montage of the four Outriders classes - Devastator, Pyromancer, Trickster, and Technomancer - using their diverse abilities accompanies the second mantra, "Powers on Tap." "Kill to Heal" establishes to players that they'll have to take life in order restore their own. With the final mantra, Outriders' overarching philosophy is to "Think Aggressive." Developer People Can Fly certainly hammers home the priority of offense and adrenaline.

The final portion of the trailer cranks up the music along with quick cuts showcasing plenty of explosions, violence and a glimpse at skill trees and cosmetic customizations. Although the game isn't due for release for another few months, the team behind Outriders has been hard at work releasing info surrounding it. In fact, the developers have been regularly holding broadcasts, the most recent of which breaks down the title's weapon customization options.

Outriders enters a competitive field of looter-shooters, alongside titles such as Destiny 2, Borderlands 3, and Anthem. However, its aim to heavily integrate RPG elements (Square Enix's strong suit) should hopefully be enough to differentiate itself from the pack. Some gamers believe if the right balance is struck, the game could be like a marriage of Mass Effect and Borderlands. This latest sizzle reel certainly lends itself to that theory, but players will have to reach their own verdict come February 2021.

The new Outriders trailer is sure to get fans of this highly-anticipated title even more hyped for its release. Square Enix and People Can Fly's new IP looks to make a big splash in the gaming world when it launches next year. However, there are some gamers who may not be the biggest fans of action-focused shooters the title is shaping up to be. Fortunately, Square Enix has also released a new Nier Replicant gameplay trailer, for those who prefer a more straight-up, single player RPG.

Outriders releases on February 2, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
