The release of new gaming technology always comes with unique features for developers to consider putting into their games. Sometimes new features are near-universally praised, like ray-tracing, but other times gamers look for ways to turn off new features that they feel negatively affect their gaming experience. One controversial feature in gaming is motion blur, which aims to accurately depict how human eyes visualize their surroundings while on the move. As gamers test out the new Outriders demo, some may want to turn off motion blur, and certain players have already figured it out.

The Outriders demo released today, about a month before Outriders releases on April 1. Outriders is a third-person looter shooter developed by People Can Fly that focuses on the aftermath of humanity's attempt to colonize the alien planet, Enoch. Players can choose between the Devastator, Pyromancer, Technomancer, and Trickster classes to decide how they will tackle fighting enemies in the game. While learning the intricacies of these classes, one gamer decided to release information on how to turn off motion blur in the Outriders demo, specifically for PC.

Twitter user Chevy has already jumped into the Outriders demo, and they have some instructions for players who want to turn off motion blur while playing the demo on PC. Chevy has apparently already experienced some frame rate issues, and turning off motion blur typically increases frames per second. The list can be a bit overwhelming but it essentially involves changing a bunch of different PC system settings to zero.

Besides improving frames per second, turning off motion blur has a few other benefits. Motion blur can cause dizziness for some players sensitive to graphical blurring. Gamers who play competitive first-person shooter games like Apex Legends or Call of Duty: Warzone might also want to turn off motion blur because it can make it harder to spot hidden enemies while on the move. Racing games typically benefit the most from motion blurring, as it helps players focus on the track ahead.

Console gamers who want to turn off motion blur are also able to do so. Games with motion blur may have options in the main menu under Settings or Graphics Settings. Motion blur can either be turned on or off, and some games have sliders that allow a player to adjust motion blur to their desired amount. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X have motion blur settings options, but the PS4 and Xbox One do not and some games may or may not have motion blur options as part of the game.

The release of the Outriders demo today also gave the public a new Outriders launch trailer to enjoy. Outriders is a brand new IP for People Can Fly, so it should be interesting to see if it becomes a hit with gamers.

Outriders releases April 1, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
