The second Outriders broadcast provides a ton of knowledge for eager fans. As a class-based RPG style shooter, many may be wondering how its classes tie together, how playthroughs work, and other factors like that, and community manager Robbie Palmer delivered upon some of those questions at the end.

In a vein similar to Borderlands 3's Gunner, Operative, Beastmaster, and Siren, Outriders features 4 classes for players: Trickster, Pyromancer, Devastator, and a mysterious unrevealed class. Players will be able to team up and use their favorite class, but several may want to play as all classes or have multiples of their favorite (all classes can work with a variety of playstyles). As such, how many character slots players could have, if loot was locked to a specific character, and if they have to be individually leveled up via the story are all big questions.

Palmer revealed that there are 6 character slots in Outriders, which means players could theoretically have 1 of each class, as well as 2 bonus characters derived from their favorite class. This is big because, as People Can Fly pointed out to Game Rant, the Pyromancer begins off as a "mid-range AOE damage dealer," but following specific skill trees will allow players to morph this character into any number of roles to suit their playstyle. This applies to the Trickster, the Devastator, etc.

Outriders does feature a stash mechanic, which will allow players to share items between characters. It's uncertain if that means loot can be geared toward certain classes that could be passed on, or it's loot in general that can just be shared, and/or both. Either way, fans should keep an eye on their favorite gear in the early parts of the game.

Palmer did not really touch on if each class had to replay the story to level up and prepare for endgame content, but considering Outriders is a PvE experience and not a PvP one, this seems like a likely scenario. For now, fans just need to wait and see what Outriders has in store when it launches alongside PS5 and Xbox Series X (though it's available on other platforms as well).

Outriders releases Q4 2020 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
