Without a doubt, Red Barrels' survival-horror title Outlast 2 is easily one of the scariest games for PS4 and Xbox One, but it looks as if the studio is prepared to extend the thrills to Nintendo's newest console as well. As a matter of fact, Red Barrels made a post on the game's official Facebook page today to confirm that the sequel will be making the leap onto the Switch during the first quarter of 2018.

As seen in the Facebook announcement below, the news of Outlast 2 coming to Nintendo Switch isn't the only piece of information that Red Barrels wanted to share, as it said the franchise itself would be coming to the system, too. This would mean that the first title and its DLC would also be making its way onto the console at some point early next year.

Additionally, the studio also took the time to address Outlast 2 fans' requests for the sequel to receive DLC. Unfortunately, though, the developer has stated it doesn't intend on creating any expansion materials for the game, for it felt like none of the DLC options that were crafted would fit the overall tone of the title.

While some fans might be discouraged to learn that Outlast 2 won't be getting any DLC, their moods will likely perk right up thanks to Red Barrels also peppering the post with a promise to eventually make an Outlast 3 sometime down the line. However, the studio didn't provide any further details on the matter beyond the fact that it does plan to create an official third entry for the series.

Of course, before getting too excited about Outlast 3, there are likely plenty of Nintendo Switch owners who may have not had the opportunity to give the second installment in the franchise a whirl. With this surely being the case for some, those who game exclusively on the Big N's latest console would do well to check out our review of Outlast 2 to see if it's up to snuff and worthy of a day one purchase next year.

Bearing all of this in mind, it's great to see the Nintendo Switch's library continue to expand well after its launch in March earlier this year. Plus, it's especially exciting a title like Outlast 2 will assist in the growth of the console's catalog, for not only will it be able to cater to horror fans that crave a frightening experience on the Switch, but also it will be good company for other M-Rated games like DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus.

Outlast 2 is slated to release in the first quarter of 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, and it is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
